Community Services Block Grant The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programs emphasize both preventive aid as well as extended assistance, when necessary, to enable individuals to become economically self-sufficient. In our service areas of Aiken, Barnwell, and Lexington counties, we are coordinating a response to emergency conditions and providing case management/employment supportive services such that there can be stabilization of household acute conditions.

LIHEAP
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program Locally, in Aiken, Barnwell and Lexington counties, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist with energy costs. LIHEAP also helps families to manage expenses associated with home energy costs and energy crisis, especially during extreme temperatures during the winter or summer months.

FGP
Foster Grandparent Program Foster Grandparents serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for at-risk children and youth with special needs through a variety of community organizations, including public schools, Head Start centers, non-profit day-care centers and after-school programs.

WAP
Weatherization Assistance Program The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) provides home weatherization assistance to improve the quality of life for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities and children by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. WAP for each of the state's 46 counties is coordinated through eight (8) community action agencies. |
