Community Action changes the lives of people, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Our Mission

The mission of the Aiken/Barnwell Counties Community Action Agency, Inc. is to fight against poverty by mobilizing resources, providing opportunities, programmatic services, and advocacy thereby empowering people to realize and sustain self-sufficiency and self-dignity.

As a non-profit organization, we are charged with providing programs and services that promote and create self-sufficiency directed to individuals, families and communities. Our vision, then, is to serve as a catalyst to improve the wellbeing of the communities we serve by reducing the causes and effects of poverty.

The Aiken/Barnwell Counties Community Action Agency, Inc. reports its outcomes under the following six (6) Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) national goals for community action:

  • Low-income people become more self-sufficient.
  • The conditions in which low-income people live are improved.
  • Low-income people own a stake in their community.
  • Partnerships among supporters and providers of services to low-income people are achieved.
  • Agencies increase their capacity to achieve results.
  • Low-income people, especially vulnerable populations, achieve their potential by strengthening family and other supportive environments.
